Mitchell, Enoch D.
Posted: February 13, 2010
am trying to locate the grave site for Enoch D. Mitchell, sometimes E.D. Mitchell.
I have searched every site I can on the web and keep coming up empty. Do you know where I can turn to find this information? I believe strongly that he died and was buried in Cobb County.
The 1850 census that lists Lost District as the location of the census, but I can't seem to find this location. I also have reason to believe he may have lived near Gritter? He is line 31 - Dabney P. Mitchell.
If you can point me where to go, Library, Courthouse, etc.. any other help would be appreciated!
Thank you!
David Mitchell

Thompson, Bessie F.
Posted: February 13, 2010
I am currently trying to find out some information about my ancestors. Her name was Bessie F. Thompson born Oct 31 1905 and died Dec 8, 1998 in Marietta, GA. Her husband was Horace Thompson. My husband and I are from Tifton and Valdosta, GA.
I am searching for my great grandmother's maiden name so I can potentially find out her grandparent's name who served in the Civil War. This way I can potentially become a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and earn a scholarship. I as wondering if you could help me because she was residing in Marietta when she died. I have searched all I know to search but I hit dead ends because it is so hard to search for a maiden name. If you could help that would be wonderful and most helpful.
Thank you for your time.

Wallace / Willis Family
Posted: February 13, 2010
I am researching a Wallace / Willis family that came to Cobb County from Rutherford County, NC beginning in the early to mid-1840's. The first was H.B. Wallace (1813 - 1892) who married Martha Johnson in Rutherford County, 1845. Most, if not all, of their children were born in Cobb County. H.B. Wallace was a brick mason and became successful in the construction business. His brother, Toliver Wallace (1809 - 1882), who married Nancy Dycus in Rutherford County in 1833, came to Cobb County about 1866. A number of children came with them. Any information that can be provided is greatly appreciated.
